Ruben Rodas, Independent Filmmaker (New York, USA)
Ruben is a bi-coastal (NY-LA) Independent Filmmaker. His professional background includes extended experience as Director and Cinematographer of Narrative Films, Commercials , Music Videos , TV shows, Branded Content, and Documentaries.
In the year 2001 he was recognized for his award winning short film "Paper Airplanes." Consequently, he was hired as Director and producer for TV shows and promos at the Telefuturo network; Ruben is also the recipient of various awards including best TV show of the year for "Menchi" in 2001. In 2003 he joined producer Joel Cabrera and created the TV production company "FOQUS DIGITAL" where he directed several commercials and documentaries for some of leading national networks. In 2004 he came on board as one of the producers for two nationally televised sitcom series developed for the Telefuturo network: "GvsB" and "Animo Juan."
Ruben has directed and shoot advertising campaigns and various content for high profile clients such as NBC Universal, HBO, MTV, Adidas, H&M, Conde Nast, GAP, Groupon and many others.

The exercises are designed to give you a first-hand experience, expose you to the career and give you a deep insight of each occupation.
Total Time: 2-5 hours to complete
Preparation: none
Instructions:
Step 1: Come up with an idea for a short film, music video or any other type of video;
Step 2: Write the script for it and describe all of the scenes. Try to make the script 4 to 8 pages, but it depends on the length of your video;
Step 3: Ask your friends to help you with shooting and discuss the idea of the video and the script with them. You can use your phone or camera to shoot it;
Step 4: Direct the shooting and edit the final video using the free video editor app on your phone, your laptop, Youtube studio or any other free video editor that you can find online;
