Overview:
Career Insider Digest is a deep dive into a profession of Dancer..

Total Time: 1.5 hours to complete

Preparation: Make sure you have a pen and a paper or a notebook that you can use to make notes while watching the videos.

Instructions: Watch the videos, make notes and write down your insights.

Class 1. Introduction: You will meet your expert and learn about their career journey.

Class 2. Job overview: In this module, you will become familiar with the occupation and the kind of tasks that this professional does on a typical day.

Class 3. Education & Skills: Your expert explains what education, skills and personal qualities are important to succeed at this job.

Your Expert:
Amanda Robinson, Dancer (New York, USA)
Amanda is a commercial dancer, model, fitness pro, motivator, teacher, and on-camera personality. She studied classical Ballet and Pointe at The School of American Ballet, the Lincoln Center-based associate school of the New York City Ballet. Amanda worked as an NBA dancer for 5 years with the Brooklynettes, the official dance team of NBA basketball franchise Brooklyn Nets. She has been spotlighted in R. Kelly's music video, grooving with Will Smith on Saturday Night Live, the cover girl of Dance Spirit magazine, or dancing alongside Amy Schumer in the comedy "Trainwreck" by Judd Apatow. Her performance and print credits include: America's Got Talent, MTV's Video Music Awards, Good Day New York, The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, Pepsi, Adidas and many others.

Her technical training also includes Jazz, Tap, Lyrical, Contemporary, Modern, Hip-hop, Heels, Musical Theatre, Swing, and a wide range of cultural styles including Salsa, Bachata, Samba, Soca, Dancehall, Afro-Caribbean, and Irish Dance.
Preparation
Before you start watching this video, make sure that you have a list of paper or a notebook and a pen so you can complete the exercises suggested in the course.

It's important that you pay attention to the content as at the end you will need to answer the questions covered in the course.

2. Practical Exercise

Overview:
You can become a Dancer for a day and see how you like the experience!

The exercises are designed to give you a first-hand experience, expose you to the career and give you a deep insight of each occupation.


Total Time: 2-5 hours to complete

Preparation: none

Instructions:

Step 1: Watch Amanda's dance reel;

Step 2: Pick the movements from the video that you liked and repeat them;

Step 3: Do a short piece from Amanda's reel and then add onto it with their own moves/freestyle for another 2 minutes of the video. This way you have the opportunity to learn as well as be expressive all in one.

Step 4: Record the video, upload it to YouTube (you can make it unlisted) and attach the link to the final quiz.
3. Occupation Worksheet
Overview:
Gathering information and reflecting on your experience is a critical step in making an effective career decision. After learning more about the occupation and completing the practical exercise, take this quizz to summarize what you've learnt about the occupation.
